Whittington Hospital in London Donates 383 Medical Manuals to University of Prishtina’s Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina has received 383 recently published medical manuals donated by London’s Whittington Hospital, which is managed by Whittington Health NHS Trust.
The manuals contain clinical protocols, standards, and guidelines for basic and advanced life support. They are designed for different groups of patients, including adults and children, in the treatment of critical health conditions. The manuals were brought from London to Prishtina thanks to the initiative of Cambridge University Hospital professor Leonora Fisniku and Whittington Hospital staff member Valbona Dula.
This donation was made possible through close cooperation and coordination between the Embassy of Kosovo in the United Kingdom and Valbona Dula from Whittington Hospital in London, who ensured that the donation was dedicated to the University of Prishtina, specifically its Faculty of Medicine.
At the handover ceremony held at the University of Prishtina’s Rectorate, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Development, Prof. Rozafa Basha, called the initiative very important. She thanked Whittington Hospital, the donors from our diaspora who started the manual donation, the Embassy of Kosovo in London, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. She stressed that this represents very valuable support for the university, its students, and academic staff.
The Director of the Diaspora Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Elis Badalli, said such donations are greatly needed. “Every donation, especially from the diaspora, is welcome to us. I hope this collection of manuals will be useful to the students,” said Director Badalli.
Vice-Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Aurora Bakalli, thanked the Embassy of Kosovo in London, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, and the UP Rectorate for perfectly organizing everything related to this donation. She added, “These manuals are truly valuable, and I hope they will reach the right students who will benefit from them.”
Also attending the event were the Vice-Dean for Finance and Infrastructure of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Miranda Stavileci, and the Diaspora Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Besnik Deskaj, who organized the entire process of bringing the books to Kosovo and communication between the different institutions.
