Visit of Rector Hajrullahu and Vice-Rector Basha to Poland: Strategic meetings in Warsaw and Łódź strengthen UP’s international cooperation
The delegation of the University of Prishtina, composed of Rector Prof. Arben Hajrullahu and the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, Prof. Rozafa Basha, conducted a three-day working visit to the Republic of Poland, coordinated by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Warsaw, Mr. Drilon S. Gashi. The visit included official meetings with seven universities in Warsaw and Łódź, creating a solid foundation for new academic and research collaborations with some of Poland’s leading higher-education institutions.
During the visit to the University of Warsaw—the highest-ranked university in Poland—the delegation was received by Rector Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Prof. Łukasz Zamęcki, and Prof. Spasimir Domaradzki. Discussions focused on the contemporary mission of the university in the age of artificial intelligence, the importance of interdisciplinary programs, and international partnerships. The parties agreed to initiate the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding that would enable academic mobility and joint research projects.
At the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Rector Dr. Tomasz Strahl, Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Joanna Ławrynowicz-Just, and Chancellor Paweł Sroczyński welcomed the delegation warmly, discussing opportunities for student exchanges in music studies, artistic cooperation, and the advancement of music education in Kosovo.
At the Warsaw School of Economics – SGH, the delegation was received by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Jacek Prokop and the Director for International Cooperation, Ms. Małgorzata Chromy. The meeting addressed opportunities for collaboration in economics, business administration programs, and the social sciences, as well as possibilities for joint projects within Erasmus+.
At the Warsaw University of Technology—the highest-ranked technical university in Poland—the delegation met with Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, the Director of the Center for International Cooperation, Prof. Grzegorz Robak, and Ms. Patrycja Kluz. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in engineering, information technology, advanced scientific research, and student and staff exchanges at the master’s and doctoral levels.
Another important meeting took place at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Magdalena Boffito, presented the institution’s profile and discussed opportunities for cooperation in visual arts, joint artistic projects, and academic mobility.
At the University of Łódź, the delegation met the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Lazari-Radek. The parties highlighted the relevance of the existing Erasmus+ KA171 agreement in the social sciences and archaeology, and discussed expanding cooperation in archaeology, Albanology, and the possibility of introducing Polish language lecturers at UP.
The highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Łódź Film School, one of Europe’s most renowned film academies. The agreement was signed by UP’s Rector, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, and Rector Prof. Milenia Fiedler. This partnership aims to develop joint academic projects, student mobilities, and the exchange of academic expertise in film arts.
The visit to Poland opens broad prospects for cooperation for the University of Prishtina. All institutions expressed readiness to advance dialogue, prepare concrete agreements, and develop joint initiatives in research, teaching, and the arts. These contacts lay important foundations for new projects, expanded mobility opportunities, and deeper integration of UP into European academic networks.
