University of Prishtina Signs Memorandum for Student Scholarships with "Vesel and Nafije Latifi" Foundation
The "Vesel and Nafije Latifi" Foundation and the University of Prishtina signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will provide 40 annual scholarships for first and second-year students at the University of Prishtina.
According to the memorandum, the scholarships, each worth 500 euros, will be awarded by the Foundation over a ten-year period (2025–2035). This represents a major financial and moral investment in supporting young people and public education in Kosovo.
The "Vesel and Nafije Latifi" Foundation was established in honor of the late criminal law professor at the Faculty of Law, Prof. Vesel Latifi, who left behind a rich academic and personal legacy. During his career, he published many books and scholarly works, making a profound contribution to the development of legal studies and the education of generations of lawyers at the University of Prishtina and beyond.
The foundation was created by Ms. Nafije Latifi to continue Professor Latifi's work, values, and contributions: academic integrity, a deep commitment to education, and support for young talent.
“Professor Latifi’s work and life touched thousands of students over the decades. This foundation and these scholarships are the most fitting way to continue his legacy,” said Ms. Nafije Latifi during the signing ceremony.
The Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, praised the Foundation's generous act and the positive impact it will have on UP students.
“We welcome this outstanding initiative and are deeply grateful for the continued support it will provide to our students. This is an excellent example of collaboration that directly helps empower young people and improves the quality of education in our country,” stated Rector Hajrullahu.
UP students are eligible to apply for these scholarships. In the coming days, the University will announce the application process, including the required criteria and documents.
