A cooperation memorandum between the University of Prishtina and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was signed today.

The memorandum was signed by Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Prishtina, and Veronika Vashchenko, Head of the UNICEF Office in Kosovo.

The meeting and formal signing ceremony were also attended by Prof. Majlinda Gjelaj, Vice-Rector for Institutional Development, Quality Assurance, and Student Affairs, and Kozeta Imami, Education Specialist at the UNICEF Office in Kosovo.

During the signing ceremony, Rector Hajrullahu emphasized that the agreement should not remain merely on paper, stressing the necessity of cooperative efforts to achieve tangible results. Veronika Vashchenko highlighted the memorandum’s strategic timing, noting its alignment with UNICEF’s newly ratified five-year plan for Kosovo.

The agreement establishes cooperation in areas of shared interest to benefit children, adolescents, and families in Kosovo.

UNICEF in Kosovo maintains existing partnerships with the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Medicine. During a prior meeting between Rector Hajrullahu and Ms. Vashchenko, discussions also centered on creating an education program for midwives at the University of Prishtina.
