The University of Prishtina has won the EUROCC Project, which will enable Kosovo to establish a National Competence Centre for High‑Performance Computing (HPC). This achievement, secured in December 2025, places Kosovo among the European countries that operate such a centre. The project, launched in 2020, involves 33 partner countries alongside Kosovo.

High‑performance computing (HPC) uses powerful computers or networks of servers to process vast amounts of data and solve complex problems.

Coordinated by the University of Stuttgart, EUROCC brings together 107 partners from across Europe, including the University of Prishtina and the Kosovo Research and Education Network (KREN). The project has received positive evaluation from the European Union.

It will run for three years under the leadership of Prof. Eliot Bytyçi of the University of Prishtina.

Working with KREN, the project aims to help Kosovo’s small and medium‑sized enterprises and industrial sector access advisory support, develop expertise, and use national and European high‑performance computing resources.

The University of Prishtina also secured another Horizon Europe project in December, focused on adapting to climate change using advanced technology. In addition, a separate recently‑awarded project will use digitisation and artificial intelligence to help preserve cultural heritage.
