Two-Day Events for the 56th Anniversary of the University of Prishtina

The University of Prishtina will mark its 56th founding anniversary with activities on Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13, 2026. 

On Thursday, a formal doctoral graduation ceremony will commence at 11:00 a.m. in the amphitheater of the Central University Library. For the first time in the institution’s history, the new doctoral graduates will take an oath to uphold the highest standards of teaching and research. 

On Friday, the main day celebrating the establishment of Kosovo’s largest, oldest, and most accomplished university, the program will include video messages and remarks from partner universities, international scholars, students, and student organizations. Distinguished staff members and retiring academics will be honored, followed by a cultural performance presented by professors from the Faculty of Arts. 

Traditional speeches will be delivered by the rector, international partners, and dignitaries. Two new cooperation agreements will be signed during the event. 

The central anniversary ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Central University Library amphitheater. It will highlight the university’s pivotal contributions to history, education, and societal development. 

The University of Prishtina was founded on February 15, 1970, during an official session of the Kosovo Assembly.
