The Rectors' Conference: Deepening Cooperation and Concrete Steps for the Internationalization of Scientific Research and Higher Education in Kosovo

During a meeting of the Conference of Rectors of Public Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Kosovo, held at the Rectorate of the University of Prishtina, a cooperation agreement was signed between the country's eight public universities.

Through the signed agreement, the University of Prishtina, the "Ukshin Hoti" University of Prizren, the "Haxhi Zeka" University of Peja, the "Isa Boletini" University of Mitrovica, the "Kadri Zeka" University of Gjilan, the "Fehmi Agani" University of Gjakova, the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, and the Public International Business College in Mitrovica committed to deepening their academic, scientific-research, educational, and cultural cooperation based on the principles of digitalization in the age of artificial intelligence.

The agreement also envisages facilitating the exchange of professors and students, organizing joint activities, and the possibility of special initiatives for the benefit of higher education.

At the meeting, the outgoing chair of the Rectors' Conference, the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, handed over the duty to the new chair, Prof. Mentor Alishani, who is the Rector of the "Ukshin Hoti" University of Prizren. His deputy will be Prof. Armand Krasniqi, Rector of the "Haxhi Zeka" University of Peja. Their term lasts for one year, as changes in the leadership of this conference are made through rotation.

The rectors of the public universities also took concrete steps to strengthen the internationalization of scientific research and higher education in Kosovo, while also discussing student registration for the 2025/’26 academic year and program accreditation.

The Rectors' Conference has become highly consolidated as an institution, having established all its operational mechanisms and its Rules of Procedure. This conference will also have its own official website.
