The Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the University of Prishtina has been awarded a €500,000 grant from the Regional Challenge Fund to finance the construction of a didactic dairy. Once built, this facility will help students connect the theory they learn in class with hands-on practice.

The Faculty submitted its application for the didactic dairy under the fourth call for proposals (RCF 4) of the Regional Challenge Fund and will now move forward with this important strategic project.

The new facility will be used for dairy processing. This investment marks a major step in improving the University’s academic and professional infrastructure, providing modern, practical training opportunities in food technology, veterinary medicine, and other fields within the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.

The didactic dairy will allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, significantly boosting their professional skills and job readiness.

The project is also expected to strengthen cooperation with the agri-food sector and the dairy industry, paving the way for new partnerships, student internships, knowledge exchange, and joint projects in the future.

For the past ten years, the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the University of Prishtina has carried out ongoing projects to combat viruses under the Biosecurity Programme of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The Faculty also worked alongside the U.S. Army medical team to fight dangerous viruses and parasites in the area around Camp Bondsteel.

In addition, the Faculty has secured an Erasmus+ Capacity Building project to bring its veterinary medicine curriculum in line with European Union standards. The Faculty has also benefited from the construction of a stable funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the organization SKAT under their IWRM‑K programme.
