Details about engineering scholarships from Taiwan and the experiences of a group of UP students who trained there were presented at the Innovation Center of UP’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The students shared what they learned in the fields of semiconductor and microchip manufacturing.

UP students Taulant Shala, Artina Hoxha, Bleart Pista, Bleron Osmani, and Anda Hamiti spent two weeks in Taiwan under a semiconductor training scholarship program. They demonstrated their new skills and explained the production process for these devices and microchips, which are essential components in all kinds of machinery, vehicles, and electronics.

Taiwan is one of the world's leading producers of semiconductors, the basic material used to build microchips. These chips are now indispensable in our everyday lives.

The students also shared their personal experiences of living there, describing the people of this Asian nation as very friendly and always willing to help.

The event was opened by Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, Prof. Rozafa Basha. She encouraged attending students to use this special opportunity to learn about Taiwanese scholarship and exchange programs, especially in engineering and other fields. She highlighted that Taiwan is a country where innovation is central to industrial growth, noting that roughly 90% of the world's most advanced chips are produced there.

The scholarship program was presented by the Deputy Director of the Taipei Representative Office in Budapest, Hungary, Ms. Anna Y. C. Ho. She said the semiconductor training scholarships and international higher education program scholarships are an excellent fit for UP students. She explained that all student expenses are covered for scholarship winners, and the application deadline is March 15, 2026.

Ms. Ho also outlined the application process and necessary documents. UP regularly shares information on scholarships offered by its partner universities in Taiwan.

The event concluded with a screening of the documentary "A Chip Odyssey," which traces Taiwan's path to global success in the semiconductor and chip industry. Ms. Anna Y. C. Ho, who presented today's opportunities, had previously visited the University of Prishtina Rectorate in January 2025.
