Summer University Concludes with Certificates, Emotions, and a Promise to Return

The International Summer University of Prishtina closed with a solemn ceremony during which certificates were awarded to professors and heartfelt promises were made to reunite again after one year. 

In front of participating professors and students, Rector Prof. Arben Hajrullahu and Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, Prof. Rozafa Basha, addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of this event for the University of Prishtina and the extensive work carried out throughout the program. 

Professor Kohei Arai from the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Saga University, Japan, then shared his experience during his recent stay in Kosovo. His colleague from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Arbnor Pajaziti, also spoke. Together, they conducted a course on the application of artificial intelligence technology for collecting and analyzing big data in economics. 

On behalf of the international student participants, Tim de Jong delivered a speech, promising to return after humorously noting he had “drunk plenty of water from Prizren’s fountain.” He praised the people of Kosovo for their open-mindedness and expressed hope for Kosovo’s swift integration into the European Union.

Jona Kasumi, a law student at the University of Prishtina, also spoke at the ceremony, sharing how much she learned from the course on transitional justice and her interactions with international students. 

Certificates were subsequently awarded to both international and local professors in recognition of their contributions. 

Over two consecutive weeks, professors from the University of Prishtina and abroad delivered lectures across 16 courses, covering topics ranging from AI-driven big data analysis in economics and advanced technological systems for financial services to memory culture and the journey of artifacts from discovery to museums.
