RECTOR DEMA AWARDS WITH LETTERS OF APPRECIATION THE WINNING STUDENTS OF INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, has welcomed the representatives of Kosovar University Sport in European University Games / EUG 2018 and in World University Karate Championship with a solemn ceremony today.

In the European University Games held in Coimbra, Portugal, the judoist Fjolla Kelmendi a University of Prishtina student, won the second place in the 48 kilogram category. Meanwhile, Alvin Karaqi, a student of the Faculty of Medicine in UP, has won the bronze medal at the World Karate University Championship, held in Kobe, Japan.

For this success, the representative teams were rewarded with letters of appreciation by prof. Dr. Marjan Dema, the Rector of the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina", while the two students who won medals in these competitions also received a poster with the logo of the University of Prishtina as a sign of gratitude for their success.

Rector Dema was proud of the dignified representation that these students have done not only to UP but also to the whole country.

"To be ranked second on a continental level and third on the global level is a success to be proud of. I am very happy that you are the students of UP, especially those who brought us these precious medals, achievements that prove even more about the quality of studies at our University, "said Rector Dema.

Meanwhile, Prof. Asoc. Dr. Musa Selimi, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, congratulated the winners of these competitions, while thanking the Rector of UP for the continuous support he has given to this faculty.

Even the winning students expressed their happiness with their success. They thanked the University, the Dean and other organizers for their support, while sharing with their attendees their journey to these successes.

"It was a privilege and pleasure for me to represent the country and the University in these games. I hope that our medals will be an initiative for other medals, "said judoist Kelmendi. Meanwhile, karateist Alvin Karaqi, said that with these successes have shown the world that Kosovo has athletes and students with great potential.

Rector Dema rewarded with letters of appreciation Prof. Asoc. Dr. Musa Selimi, FEFS dean, Elhami Shabani, student, Fatos Tabakun, coach, and Nazmi Gashi, the general secretary of the Karate Federation in Kosovo.
