RECTOR DEMA ATTENDS THE CEREMONY OF THE UNIVERSITIES’ MAGNA CHARTA 30TH ANNIVERSARY

Prof. Dr. Marjan Dema, Rector of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, is staying in Spain, where he is attending the ceremony of the Universities’ Magna Charta 30th anniversary.
Every year, the Magna Charta Observatory organizes a conference where the current challenges in preserving universities’ fundamental values are addressed and where other rectors sign the document during the ceremony. This year’s conference theme is “University values in a changing world”.

During this visit, Rector Dema has had the chance to meet university rectors from all over the world, where he was informed about other universities’ conditions and their mission to be part of the contribution for the society of rapid changing. During these meetings, Dema has assured the attendees that the University of Prishtina continues to be a hardworking contributor by making positive changes for the Kosovo society, by always respecting and magnifying the fundamental values of the high education.

Not only the 30th anniversary of Magna Charta is being celebrated, but also this ceremony has marked the 800th year anniversary of the University of Salamanca in Spain.

On September 18th, 1988, in the presence of many political leaders and society representatives, 388 rectors signed the Magna Charta. This document has become the main reference for the fundamental values and principles of the university and over 800 university leaders from all over the world have now signed it.
