Professors from Greece's Democritus University Visit UP to Strengthen Ties
A delegation of professors from the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, accompanied by the head of the Greek Liaison Office, Her Excellency Heleni Vakali, recently visited the University of Prishtina (UP).
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen existing collaboration with Greek universities within European projects, including formalizing cooperation through memoranda of understanding.
Discussions also identified areas of common interest, with the goal of organizing joint scientific research, courses, and study programs in the future. The potential for future connections through the Prishtina International Summer University, which will mark its 25th year from July 6th to 17th, 2026, was also highlighted. It was noted that, based on their experience, Democritus University could assist UP in areas such as improving campus accessibility for students with disabilities.
Drawing on her experience in Kosovo, the Head of the Greek Liaison Office, Her Excellency Heleni Vakali, praised the students of the University of Prishtina and expressed confidence that her country's professors would find open and cooperative partners here.
The professors from Democritus University Agapi Kandilaki, Olga Katsiani, Stavros Fragkos, and Georgios Filippidis are visiting Kosovo as part of the Erasmus+ academic exchange program. They were welcomed by Rector Prof. Arben Hajrullahu and Prorector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, Prof. Rozafa Basha.
The delegation was also accompanied by Prof. Dr. Vjollca Krasniqi from the Department of Social Work in the Faculty of Philosophy, along with three students from the department. During their stay, the Greek professors are scheduled to hold meetings with institutional officials and non-governmental organizations, visit an exhibition of items belonging to children who lost their lives in the war in Kosovo, and visit the city of Prizren.
