Professor from Sophia University of Japan Visited University of Prishtina

Professor Taro Kamatsu of Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, met with Rector Arben Hajrullahu and senior officials of the University of Prishtina (UP) to discuss potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions.  

The distinguished guest was welcomed alongside Rector Hajrullahu by Vice Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange Prof. Rozafa Basha and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Blerim Saqipi.  

During the meeting, both parties agreed to identify shared areas of interest to revitalize their longstanding cooperation. Professor Kamatsu expressed strong interest in cooperation on peace education initiatives, noting his extensive publication record in this field.  

Discussions also explored the possibility of joint academic sessions between faculty members and institutional partnerships. Professor Kamatsu confirmed his readiness to participate in the 25th edition of the University of Prishtina’s International Summer University, scheduled for summer 2026.  

The University of Prishtina maintains robust cooperation with Japanese scholars and institutions. On 18 June, the university conferred its highest honor, Doctor Honoris Causa, upon Professor Hisashi Owada, a globally renowned figure in international law. Additionally, two Japanese professors lectured at the University of Prishtina’s International Summer University in July.
