Meeting with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education: UP Performing Well

During the meeting between the Rector of the University of Pristina (UP), Arben Hajrullahu, and his team with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and acting Minister of Education Arbërie Nagavci, open discussions were held on UP’s achievements, challenges, institutional support, and outcomes in the era of artificial intelligence and rapid technological advancements. 

Rector Hajrullahu, after expressing gratitude for the support provided to UP, emphasized his and his team’s commitment to leading the institution with transparency and meritocracy. He outlined three key priorities for daily and long-term governance: 

  • Enhancing internal mobility and cooperation among UP’s academic units; 
  • Expanding external mobility by attracting more students and professors from prestigious universities to UP, and vice versa; and 
  • Advancing digitalization as a cornerstone of the university’s future.

Rector Hajrullahu also presented plans to senior government representatives, highlighting the need for human resource development at UP and the modernization of the Central University Library. 

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, describing the University of Pristina as the leading higher education institution in Albanian-speaking territories, stressed that universities are institutions where knowledge is not only consumed but also created. He underscored the importance of ensuring that the most qualified individuals are always prioritized.

Acting Minister of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Arbërie Nagavci highlighted that UP remains the top choice for professors and students, noting that the university is currently performing better than ever. 

The meeting was also attended by acting Deputy Minister of Education Arsim Ademi, as well as Vice Rectors Albana Berisha-Qehaja, Rozafa Basha, Naim Jerliu, and Avni Hajdari; General Secretary Besnik Loxha; Rector’s Advisors Rina Mehana and Bekim Muhaxheri; and Executive Assistant Fitore Seferi.
