Meeting with the organization “VORAE” and MP Asllani: For Full Inclusion and Equal Opportunities
The leadership of the University of Prishtina met today with Arton Asllani, MP representing the Ashkali community, and Bajram Ilazi, Education Officer of the non-governmental organization "Voice of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians" (VORAE), to discuss ongoing efforts to improve these communities’ status through education and their societal contributions.
During the meeting, all challenges faced by students from the three communities were thoroughly addressed, and strategies to overcome them were explored. The Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, and his guests agreed that special emphasis should be placed on enrollment quotas for students from non-majority communities at the university.
Rector Hajrullahu emphasized that the university’s management is deeply committed to advancing full inclusion and equality of opportunity. Also in attendance were Prof. Rozafa Basha, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, and Rina Mehana, Legal Advisor to Rector Hajrullahu.
At the University of Prishtina, 12% of annually admitted regular students belong to non-majority communities.
The non-governmental organization "Voice of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians" supports these communities in the areas of education, employment, and housing, as well as through advocacy and representation before local and international government institutions and agencies.
