Dr David Baumler’s Visit at the Rectorate of Unievrsity of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina
Dr David J. Baumler, UMN Assistant Professor of Molecular Food Microbiology and Safety (Department of Food Science and Nutrition) visited the Rectorate on May 29-June 9 2018. He is a Co-PI in the twinning project between the University of Minnesota and Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary with the World Learning-Translational Leadership Program.
During his two weeks visit Dr. David Baumler will host 3 workshops to entail working with the UP-FAV and other faculty members with the aim to improve scientific writing, to increase their capacities as mentors of graduate students when working on the manuscript writing process, and also for tips on successful grant writing of proposals and student fellowships.
In the second week, Dr Baumler will work with faculty members and students to conduct research on foodborne pathogens. In this stage of the project he delivered some equipment from Minnesota to support and complete the needed infrastructure for pathogen molecular detection and in addition, Dr Baumler will assist to set up the molecular biology lab for foodborne pathogen detection at the laboratories for Food Microbiology and Safety.
The Rector of the University of Prishtina Professor Marjan Dema thanked Professor David for his support in improving and upgrading the teaching process, support the research and create conditions for research conduction as well as transfer knowledge for scientific publishing.
