A closing ceremony for the CILT project was held in the atrium of the Faculty of Architecture. The project was secured by the University of Prishtina (UP) under the University Support Grants Program (USGP), funded by the U.S. Embassy and implemented by Kosovo United States Alumni (KUSA).

In their opening remarks, speakers praised the project for establishing the Faculty’s new Center for Innovation, Laboratory & Technology. The center is equipped with the latest teaching tools for digital fabrication, 3D printing, and computer-generated virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).

They emphasized that the project aligns fully with the University of Prishtina’s future vision, as CILT enabled collaboration with the Municipality of Prishtina, local partners, and international institutions.

It was also noted that through this initiative which points toward the Faculty of Architecture’s future, the Faculty and UP have expanded their reach beyond campus, working together for the benefit of the capital city.

UP aims to develop more joint programs among its academic units, partner with leading universities worldwide, and prepare students and staff for the challenges of the artificial intelligence era.

The CILT project met all these goals while also serving the wider community. Among other outcomes, students and professors from the Faculty of Architecture helped the Municipality of Prishtina develop creative solutions to improve accessibility on the sidewalks in Prishtina’s city center.

Speakers at the ceremony included U.S. Embassy Deputy Public Affairs Officer Ms. Rebecca Satterfield, Mayor of Prishtina Mr. Përparim Rama, Rector of UP Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu, and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Violeta Nushi.

The project’s results were presented by its UP lead, Prof. Dr. Arta Jakupi. Attendees, guided by Prof. Dr. Arta Xhambazi, then toured the new center and a photo exhibition of project activities. A short film summarizing the work was also screened.

The event concluded with certificates of appreciation presented to all participants, students involved in the project, and its partners, as well as to the American donors who provided the support.
