Advisory Boards Strengthen the Link Between the University of Prishtina and the Labour Market in 2025
During the period November-December 2025, the University of Prishtina successfully completed a full cycle of consultative meetings of its Advisory Boards across all fourteen academic units, marking a significant advancement in strengthening cooperation between higher education and the labour market.
This process was implemented in accordance with the Regulation on the Establishment and Principles of Functioning of the Advisory Boards of the Academic Units of the University of Prishtina, which defines the role, composition, and competences of these bodies as non-formal advisory mechanisms aimed at enhancing educational quality and the relevance of study programmes.
Composed of representatives from the labour market, the private and public sectors, as well as relevant authorities from their respective fields, the Advisory Boards served as structured platforms for dialogue. They enabled the identification of concrete labour market needs, discussion of graduates’ professional competencies, and the formulation of recommendations for updating study programmes, strengthening professional practice, and increasing student employability.
The Vice-Rector for Institutional Development, Quality, and Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Majlinda Gjelaj, underlines that this process represents a key pillar of the University of Prishtina’s approach to quality assurance and institutional development:
“Advisory Boards serve as functional bridges between the university and the labour market. Through them, academic units receive direct input from relevant stakeholders, ensuring that study programmes evolve in line with the real needs of the economy and society. This process is not merely formal, but essential for the modernization of higher education and for strengthening the credibility of the University of Prishtina’s diplomas,” says Vice-Rector Gjelaj.
She further emphasizes that the recommendations emerging from the consultative meetings directly contribute to curriculum improvement, the promotion of cooperation with employers, and the creation of opportunities for professional internships, joint initiatives, and applied research projects.
The planning, coordination, and documentation of these meetings were facilitated by the Division for Academic Development, Quality, Monitoring, and Career at the University of Prishtina. The Division played a central role in harmonizing practices across academic units, providing institutional guidance, and offering technical support throughout the entire process.
In this way, the Advisory Board meetings held in 2025 were not isolated activities, but an integral part of the quality assurance system and of the University of Prishtina’s continuous efforts to build a sustainable, transparent, and mutually beneficial relationship with the labour market.
The University of Prishtina remains committed to continuing and further strengthening this practice in the years to come, viewing cooperation with external stakeholders as a core component of its academic and social mission.
