115 saplings and 90 flowers were planted in the courtyard of the rectorate and the University of Prishtina (UP) campus

The courtyard of the University of Prishtina’s Rectorate and the university campus now appear more aesthetically pleasing and greener after 115 saplings and 90 flowers were planted, along with the installation of two solar benches. 

The planting of flowers and saplings concluded today following a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure as part of European Mobility Week and Car-Free Day. 

During the event, Vice-Rector for Budget, Finance, and Public-Private Sector Cooperation Prof. Albana Berisha-Qehaja, who praised the integration of student discussions on sustainable environmental development with this activity, stated: “Every sapling is a promise for cleaner air, fresher shade, and a more pleasant environment for our students, staff, and visitors.” 

Acting Minister of Infrastructure Hysen Durmishi and Berat Rakovica, head of the *Marakli t'Bicikllave* (Friends of Bicycles) organization, also addressed the attendees. Subsequently, Vice-Rector Berisha-Qehaja, together with Acting Minister Durmishi, planted a linden tree in the green areas of the rectorate, where a solar bench was also installed. 

The environmental protection event was attended by Vice-Rector for Institutional Development, Quality Assurance, and Student Affairs Prof. Majlinda Gjelaj; Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Projects, and Innovation Prof. Avni Hajdari; Secretary General Besnik Loxha; and officials, professors, students from the University of Prishtina, state institutions, and non-governmental organizations. 

During this activity in the rectorate courtyard and university campus, 30 hedera, 30 berberis, and 30 sedum flowers were planted, along with 50 thuja trees, 50 ash trees, and 15 linden trees. An additional solar bench was installed near the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.   

Under the leadership of Rector Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, UP’s management remains continuously committed to ensuring that the University of Prishtina’s spaces are as green and pleasant to experience as possible.
