German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt – DBU)
The German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt – DBU) https://www.dbu.de/english awards 60 fellowships per year for advanced qualification in all fields of environmental protection and nature conservation in Germany https://www.dbu.de/2600.html . Over average qualified university graduates of all disciplines from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe are welcome to apply. The DBU scholarships cover a 6-12 month stay at Germany host institutions: universities, research institutes , companies , environmental and nature protection agencies and authorities, NGOs, associations etc.
The monthly grant is 1250 Euro. A health, accident and liability insurance is included. We offer also seminars, an intensive German language course, participating in conferences and invitations to important events, summer academies etc.. Working closely together in an international context helps to create a strong network of highly committed environmental experts.
Online application is possible in German or English. Applicants submit a description of a topic of environmental protection or nature conservation they would like to work on in Germany. This topic should be of environmental relevance for the home country, the EC or globally. PhD students can apply if the PhD thesis is not already completed during the fellowship. The commitment of a host institution must not be available at the time of application. With the help of the DBU a suitable host can be organized after the positive application process. Own initiative of the applicants is highly appreciated. The host institutions provide the workplace and guarantee professional supervision.
