UP HONORS THE LIFE AND WORK OF PROF. DR. MEHDI JASHARI WITH A COMMEMORATIVE GATHERING

The amphitheatre of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” was loaded with academics, relatives, friends, colleagues, and students of the deceased, Prof. Dr. Mehdi Jashari. They got together in this commemorative gathering to honor his life and work.

Prof. Dr. Marjan Dema, Rector of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”  expressed his condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students of professor Jashari, while highly valuing his contribute given to the high education field and the local sports.

“Professor Mehdi, with his contribution to the high education and the sports, left behind a whole treasure. He was a role model for his colleagues, students, and for all those who knew him, on which he will be remembered as a teacher and a Dean of high personality”, said Dema.

Rector Dema highly appreciated the contribution of Prof. Dr. Mehdi Jashari for being a part of the management of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports in the UP, as well.
“Professor Mehdi Jashari, except for being an honorable pedagogue and sportsman, also left traces in our University by engaging in managerial positions at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports as a Vice-Dean for two terms and as a Dean of FPES (FEFS) for one term.”

Meanwhile, the biography of prof. dr. Mehdi Jashari was presented to the audience by prof. asoc. dr. Musa Selimi, Dean of the FPES (FEFS). He indicated that in 1983 professor Mehdi Jashari has been engaged as a lecturer at UP, respectively at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports in Pristhina, where he has given his contribution for decades. Dean Selimi highly praised the personality of the late professor and expressed the most sincere condolences to his family.

Mr. Besim Hasani, Head of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Eugen Saraçini, Head of the Kosovo Handball Federation and professor Mustafa Aliu, colleague of the late professor, also held a speech in the commemorative gathering.

Meanwhile, at the end of the ceremony, on behalf of the family the speech was taken by the daughter of Professor Mehdi Jashari, who thanked the University of Prishtina and colleagues of the late professor for the honor given to his figure.

Prof. dr. Mehdi Jashari passed away at the age of 74. He has lectured various subjects within the FPES (FEFS), such as: Handball, Swimming Subject, Sports Training Theory and Physical Culture and Sports History, while serving as Dean of this Faculty for a mandate (2000 - 2004).
