University of Prishtina to Renovate and Reopen the Hall of Memory and History
The University of Prishtina is moving forward with plans to renovate and restore the "Red Hall" for active use. This space has long been a venue for events that have advanced higher education and served the wider community.
The project aims to transform the hall into a modern, multipurpose facility for University of Prishtina students and staff, as well as the general public.
Currently in poor condition, the "Red Hall" once physically connected the buildings of the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Philosophy. Today, the site was visited by the University Rector, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, and the Vice-Rector for Teaching, Academic Staff, and Publications, Prof. Adem Beha.
They were accompanied by the Vice-Deans for Finance and Infrastructure from the two faculties, Prof. Remzie Shahini-Hoxha and Prof. Arsim Sinani along with UP official Nexhat Gashi and faculty secretaries Emanuel Gjoleka and Jeton Hyseni.
During the visit, the initial steps for the renovation were outlined. Work will begin with preparatory measures, including forming a committee to sort through and clear out unneeded items, followed by drafting a detailed architectural plan for the renewed hall.
The "Red Hall" also holds significant documentary and historical value. Notably, in the 1970s, it hosted the Kosovo Literary Commission's meetings to standardize the Albanian language ahead of the 1972 Orthography Congress.
