At the Rectorate of the University of Prishtina, representatives from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) discussed professional training, workforce development, and a fair and inclusive transition toward future challenges and energy.

The meeting included Kevin Mitchell, managing director of sector operations at the MCC, along with his colleagues, who were welcomed by Rector Arben Hajrullahu and his team. The MCC is a U.S. federal agency that provides support across various sectors, including energy.

Mitchell is in Kosovo to hold meetings with various local partners from different organizations benefiting from the american agency's „Compact" program, valued at over $200 million, which aims to transform the energy sector in Kosovo.

Florina Duli-Sefaj, executive director of the Millennium Challenge Account Kosovo, who was also present at the meeting, previously signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Prishtina on behalf of her organization.

The memorandum outlines professional training through various courses at the University of Prishtina's Center for Energy and Sustainability for those looking for building careers in the energy field, based on gender equality and social inclusion.

According to the memorandum, the Millennium Challenges in Kosovo will assist the Center for Energy and Sustainability with experts, financial contributions, and modern technology, while the University of Prishtina will provide its facilities, expertise, and also will ensure the fulfillment of accreditation criteria for training programs.

Partnership with American institutions and projects is very important for the University of Prishtina. On October 3rd, the Institute of Anthropology was inaugurated at the Faculty of Philosophy with a $16,000 american financial aid from the „University Support Grant."

On the same day, Rector Arben Hajrullahu honored U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey M. Hovenier, with the „Ulpiana Fest" award.
