During a meeting at the Rectorate, the new Ambassador of Germany to Kosovo, His Excellency Rainer Rudolph, offered his support to further strengthen the University of Prishtina's (UP) connections with German universities and the Kosovar academic diaspora.

Discussions centered on identifying new opportunities, mutual interests, and enhancing UP's collaboration with universities in Germany, as well as with German and global companies. A primary goal is to forge stronger links between academic programs and the labor market. The talks also covered expanding cooperation with German higher education institutions in specialized fields such as healthcare management and child health.

The Kosovar academic diaspora in Germany was acknowledged as a crucial bridge between the two countries, their cultures, and communities. The Prishtina International Summer University and the Department of German Language and Literature in the Faculty of Philology were highlighted as key platforms where these ties are continuously nurtured and strengthened.

His Excellency Ambassador Rainer Rudolph was accompanied by the Head of Culture, Press, and Information at the German Embassy, Ms. Catalina Heine. They were welcomed by Rector Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu and Vice-Rectors Majlinda Gjelaj and Adem Beha.

The guests received a briefing on the history, achievements, and challenges of the University of Prishtina, which is the oldest, largest, and most successful university in Kosovo. It also holds the highest ranking among all universities in the Albanian-speaking world on prestigious international platforms.

The University of Prishtina currently maintains over six active memoranda of understanding with German universities and participates in 21 student and faculty exchange projects under the Erasmus+ program.

This visit follows one made last year by the former German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jörn Rohde.
