ThREAD Project Launches – Weaving Together Technology, Creativity, and Craft Heritage with Artificial Intelligence
The University of Prishtina is pleased to announce the launch of the ThREAD project – Technology Harnessing Real-time Embroidery and AI Design. This innovative initiative aims to connect traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and the creative power of artificial intelligence.
The ThREAD project is co-funded by the European Union's "Creative Europe" programme. It is being carried out in partnership with the University of Tirana and "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" University in Skopje, with the University of Prishtina serving as the coordinator.
The project's goal is to foster co-creation, experimentation, and interdisciplinary innovation. It will create new links between AI-driven design methods and the rich artisanal heritage of the region.
Through ThREAD, the partners aim to support sustainable cultural and creative growth in the Western Balkans. The project will encourage dialogue, collaboration, and digital creativity within the wider European cultural landscape.
The University of Prishtina, together with its regional university partners, was awarded the ThREAD project in December 2025. It will be directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eliot Bytyçi in cooperation with his colleague, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zanita Halimi.
