Senate Majority Meeting: Numerous Decisions to Enhance the Quality of Teaching and Scientific Research at the University of Prishitina (UP)
At the 20th meeting of the University of Prishitina Senate, held on September 30, 2025, numerous decisions were made that will impact the continuous improvement of the quality of work, studies, and scientific research at the university.
The Senate decided to transfer to UP the professor of international stature, Gëzim Visoka, who currently works at Dublin City University and the University of Oxford.
The transfer of the renowned professor was based on the Regulation on Transfers, the "Brain Gain" Program, and guidelines for Exceptional Recruitment Needs of Academic Staff, which were also approved by the Senate on April 30, 2025.
By a majority vote, the senators decided to remove the "International Journal of Biomedicine" from the approved list of publications for the advancement of UP's academic staff. They also approved the commission for drafting the Regulation on the Prevention of Plagiarism and Unacceptable Similarity Levels. Furthermore, the commission for designing UP's admission tests passed unanimously in the Senate.
Approval was granted for professor promotions and the list of doctoral study candidates in several academic units.
A decision was also made to extend the admission deadline for students from neighboring countries and to fill vacant positions in several academic units. Furthermore, five doctoral dissertation topics were approved during the meeting, two of which were ratified.
The Senate elected Professor Shemsi Krasniqi as a member of the Ethics Council and lowered the credit requirement for first-year students to register for their second year of studies by 10 percent.
