RECTOR DEMA MEETS UNICEF REPRESENTATIVES, THE EXPANSION OF COOPERATION BETWEEN UP AND UNICEF IS AIMED
Prof. Dr. Marjan Dema, Rector of the University of Prishtina, had a meeting with Mr. James Mugaju, the UNICEF office’s deputy chief in Kosova. Part of the meeting were also Prof. Assoc. Dr. Merita Koçinaj – Berisha, Vice-Rector for international affairs in the UP, as well as Mrs. Teuta Halimi, UNICEF specialist for Monitoring Children’s Rights.
During the meeting, all sides agreed to the process of developing a different social positive movement in the country. On this occasion, UP and UNICEF will organize a big event with the involevement of all (public and private) universities and together they will sign a Memorandum of Understaning, in order to strengthen the role of the academy in acheiving stable developing objectives and in connecting the universities with the community.
In this meeting, Rector Dema noted that he wants to be remembered as a solution-oriented Rector, a leader who not only contributed in improving the quality standards of high education, but also has contributed in creating solutions for the community. Also, the Rector said that he is very much interested in creating an environment where the University will be more responsible of the community matters and in the development of volunteering jobs culture for the young generation.
On the other hand, Mr. Mugaju said that the movement for social changes is essential for emphasizing the academy role in acheving a stability and prosperity in Kosova. According to him, this initiative will have an impact in collective activities, which will be destined to bring social changes in the country.
