Professor Venet Osmani of Queen Mary University London Affiliates with University of Prishtina

In a unanimous decision on March 4, 2026, the Senate voted to affiliate Professor Venet Osmani of Queen Mary University of London with the University of Prishtina (UP).

At Queen Mary, Professor Osmani teaches Clinical AI and Machine Learning and leads a technology laboratory called the “Osmani Lab” within the Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI).

In his academic profile, he notes that his interdisciplinary research focuses on analyzing large-scale, long-term health data. The aim is to improve treatment strategies, enhance patient care, and reduce disparities in healthcare.

Professor Osmani also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Sheffield, where he previously held a role as associate professor. He has also worked at the FBK Research Institute and the University of Trento in Italy.

He has published hundreds of scientific papers in top international journals and leading media outlets and regularly supervises postdoctoral, doctoral, and master’s students.

Professor Osmani is one of three professors who joined UP at the March 4 Senate meeting, alongside Professor Miranda Kajtazi of Lund University and Professor Isa Blumi of Stockholm University. Their appointments were made under the Regulation on Transfer, the "Brain Gain" Program, and Special Cases of Academic Staff Recruitment.

Previously, UP has also welcomed Professor Gëzim Visoka of Dublin City University, physician and Professor Dukagjin Blakaj of Ohio State University, pharmacist and Professor Driton Vllasaliu of King’s College London, Professor Besnik Pula of Virginia Tech University, and Professor Zanfina Ademi-Delaney of Monash University in Australia.

Bringing in such highly regarded international scholars will help UP keep pace with current developments and prepare for the ongoing advances of the artificial intelligence era.
