Professor Miranda Kajtazi from Lund University Joins University of Prishtina Academic Staff
At a Senate meeting held on March 4, 2026, the University of Prishtina approved the appointment of Professor Miranda Kajtazi from Sweden’s Lund University to its academic staff.
Miranda Kajtazi has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics at Lund University since 2015. She earned her doctorate from Linnaeus University in information systems, specializing in system security. Her master’s degree in computer science is from Växjö University, and she completed her undergraduate studies in the same field at the South East European University.
Since 2019 alone, Professor Kajtazi has published 35 scientific papers in top international journals in her areas of expertise. Her research focuses on computer systems, cybersecurity, data privacy and ethics, data integrity, and strategic management, all examined from a global perspective.
She also serves on the board of and is affiliated with the Swedish Research School of Management and IT. Beyond her technical work, she is actively involved in promoting gender equality, reducing inequality, supporting decent work and economic growth, improving health and well-being, and fighting poverty, five of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Professor Kajtazi is one of three professors who joined the University of Prishtina during the March 2026 Senate session, under rules covering academic transfers, the Brain Gain program, and special recruitment needs. Alongside her, the Senate also approved the appointments of Professor Isa Blumi from Stockholm University and Professor Venet Osmani from Queen Mary University of London.
They join other recently appointed international professors at the University of Prishtina, including Gëzim Visoka from Dublin City University, physician and professor Dukagjin Blakaj from Ohio State University, pharmacist and professor Driton Vllasaliu from King’s College London, professor Besnik Pula from Virginia Tech, and professor Zanfina Ademi-Delaney from Monash University in Australia.
With her strong background in information technology and her commitment to teaching and research, Professor Kajtazi, together with her fellow diaspora scholars and other faculty, will help position the University of Prishtina as a forward-looking institution ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, including the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
