The Department of Law is one of the biggest departments at Stockholm University with about 190 employees and ca 2,500 students. Over 100 teachers are fully committed to teaching and carrying out the research on which the Law School is founded. The department hosts over 30 Senior Professors within different Legal Science areas, such as Jurisprudence, Labour Law, Association Law, European Law, Family Law, Financial Law, Human Rights Law, Property Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Private Law, Environmental Law, Public Law, Arbitration Law, Legal History, IT Law and Criminal Law.

Project description
The application should include a project description not exceeding 4,000 words and containing a plan for the implementation of the project. 

Main responsibilities
The main task is to carry out research in Legal Science. 20 % teaching is included in the position. Teaching can also consist in course responsibility, course development, examination, supervision of thesis and such. The Postdoctoral Fellow is also expected to take active part in the development of the activities of the department.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country. The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, military service, or similar.

Knowledge of either Swedish or English at a very high level is a requirement for employment. Applicants who master Swedish at a very high level should also master English well.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills.

Scientific proficiency must be demonstrated through high level scientific and other research-related activities such as research grants, assignments as expert, opponent or member of examining committee, participation in international research projects, assignments for journals, received prizes, research administration and other research-relevant experiences.

In addition, administrative skills and other competences related to the content of the employment and of the tasks involved will be taken into account. The ability to interact with the surrounding community and to inform about research and development is an asset.

International contacts and international experience through overseas research, education or work are also considered assets.

An important factor in the assessment of the application is the project description, which may relate to any subject within the field of law and even be cross-disciplinary.

The assessment will take into account both the ability to collaborate and the more general ability and suitability necessary to fulfil the tasks well. In the overall assessment, the applicant's potential for development and social capacity will also be taken into account.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date 2018-10-01 or as per agreement.
