Monash University Health Economics Professor Dr. Zanfina Ademi-Delaney Appointed as Adjunct at the University of Prishtina

On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Senate of the University of Prishtina (UP) unanimously decided to appoint Professor Dr. Zanfina Ademi-Delaney, an internationally recognised expert from Australia’s Monash University, as an adjunct professor at UP.

The professor, who has published more than 200 papers in leading international health journals, leads the Health Economics and Policy Evaluation Research (HEPER) Group in Monash University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Dr. Zanfina Ademi-Delaney is the world’s most cited Albanian women's scholar. She is globally known for her work in the health economics of prevention, population genomic screening, disease management, and the development of innovative health metrics like Productivity Adjusted Life Years (PALYs) to inform population-level decision-making.

Before joining Monash University, she completed her basic pharmacy degree at the University of Medicine in Tirana, earned a master’s in public health and epidemiology at the University of Eastern Finland, and obtained her PhD in health economics and public health at the institution where she now works.

Dr. Zanfina Ademi-Delaney will now also contribute to teaching and research at the University of Prishtina. Her appointment falls under the Regulation on Transfer, the "Brain Gain" Program, and Special Cases of Academic Staff Recruitment, which was approved by the UP Senate on 30 April 2025.

Other scholars previously affiliated with UP under this scheme include Professor Gëzim Visoka of Dublin City University; physician and Professor Dukagjin Blakaj of Ohio State University; pharmacist and Professor Driton Vllasaliu of King’s College London; and Professor Besnik Pula of Virginia Tech University.

Dr. Zanfina Ademi-Delaney aims through her research to improve health and reduce social inequalities. Together with UP’s academic staff, she will help the university become a modern institution ready for the challenges of today’s world.
