Girls in Engineering Fields: UP Signs Agreement with Prishtina International Airport
The University of Prishtina (UP) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Limak Kosovo International Airport J.S.C. to foster the greater inclusion of students in technology through the "Global Engineering Girls Kosovo" (GEG) program.
According to the memorandum, Limak Kosovo International Airport (LKIA) will support selected students from the University of Prishtina within the GEG Kosovo program. This initiative is part of LKIA's ongoing efforts and commitment to empowering young women and girls and advancing educational opportunities.
Support for the female students will be provided through scholarships, training sessions, study visits, internships, and mentorship as part of the "Global Engineering Girls" (GEG) program activities. The selected students will also be offered participation in various seminars and conferences, both domestically and internationally, by Prishtina International Airport.
The program also offers employment opportunities in engineering fields; to date, five young women have been employed as engineers through it.
The memorandum stipulates that the University of Prishtina will inform its students of this opportunity, support the selection process, and facilitate communication between Prishtina International Airport LKIA and those interested in joining the GEG Kosovo program.
In a meeting preceding the signing ceremony, the leadership of UP and Prishtina International Airport pledged to strengthen future cooperation for the benefit of both institutions and Kosovar society.
The memorandum was signed by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu, and the Executive Director of Limak Kosovo International Airport, Gökhan Açikgöz.
The delegation from Prishtina International Airport also included the Coordinator of "Global Engineering Girls," Valentina Gara, and the Director of Human Resources, Basri Zuka. The guests were welcomed not only by Rector Hajrullahu but also by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Projects, and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Avni Hajdari.
