CROATIAN LANGUAGE ACADEMIC COURSE STARTS IN UP

In the Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, the Croatian language Academic course has officially started. It will be held with the professor of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Zagreb, Ivancica Bankovic-Mandic.

Prof. Dr. Myrvete Badivuku-Pantina , Vice-Rector for budget and finances in UP, Mrs. Marija Kapitanoviq, ambassador of the Croatian Republic in Kosova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lindita Sejdiu Rugova, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, and many other personalities, participated in the official opening of the course, organized in the Faculty of Philology Amphitheatre.

In the opening of this Academic course, the Dean Sejdiu-Rugova said: It is the first time in the University of Prishtina that an Academic course of Croatian language is starting, although the idea of an investment of this kind in this faculty was longstanding.

She also said: “It will be a good opportunity to learn not only the Croatian language, but also to get informed with the culture, music, and all things related to Croatia.”

The ambassador of Croatia in Kosova, Mrs. Marija Kapitanoviq also participated in the solemn opening of the Croatian language Academic course. The ambassador Kapitanoviq expressed her joy for the beginning of this course, through which students will have the opportunity to learn more than just the language, and also will have the chance, after they finish their studies in UP, to continue them in Croatia. She also informed the present people that soon the professors of Albanian language in the University of Prishtina will start holding lectures in the University of Zagreb.

Meanwhile, Ivancica-Bankovic-Mandic, professor of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Zagreb, said that she feels very happy for the invitation made by the Faculty of Philology of UP to hold lectures of Croatian language for UP students.

Up until now, 30 students of the University of Prishtina expressed their interest to follow the Croatian language academic course. This course will also continue in the next semester, as a cycle of lectures, where all students of UP have the right to apply for, with special emphasis the students of Faculty of Philology.
