Beginning of the Academic Year at UP: New Students Receive Guidance and Congratulations

At the start of the 2025/26 academic year, the leaders of the University of Prishtina visited several academic units to welcome and congratulate new students embarking on their educational journey at UP.   .  

In the amphitheater of the Faculty of Architecture, the Rector, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, told students to keep their ambitions high from the first day, as only this way can one achieve far.  

Accompanied by Pro-Rectors Rozafa Basha, Albana Berisha-Qehaja, Naim Jerliu, and Avni Hajdari; the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Violeta Nushi; and other professors, Rector Hajrullahu told future architects that the generations to come will see your work and constructions.  

The Rector congratulated the admitted students for choosing the best and most attractive university in Kosovo and beyond, encouraging them to take pride in the dedication and achievements that enabled their enrollment at UP.  

Later, UP's highest official addressed new students at the Faculty of Medicine. He advised them to work diligently, but also savor your student years to the fullest – the most beautiful period of life. To the aspiring doctors, Rector Hajrullahu urged them to surpass previous generations while emphasizing the imperative to preserve human compassion in their practice.  

New students of the Faculty of Medicine were also addressed by distinguished alumnus of this faculty and internationally renowned surgeon, Prof. Rifat Latifi, who congratulated and encouraged them on the path they have chosen to follow, reminding them that the first lecture in Albanian at the Faculty of Medicine was held on December 4, 1969.  

A solemn reception for new students was also organized at the Faculty of Economics. There, Pro-Rector for Institutional Development, Quality, and Student Affairs, Majlinda Gjelaj, welcomed these students. Additionally, a beautiful artistic ceremony for the start of the academic year was held at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. Organized receptions and orientations were also provided today to new students in other academic units of UP.  

Students admitted to UP's 14 faculties will have the privilege of studying at Kosovo's largest, oldest, and most successful university – an institution ranked highest among all Albanian-language universities in the Western Balkans and globally where Albanians reside.
